Founder and Guide: Courtney McInvale Reardon is the founder of Seaside Shadows in Mystic, Connecticut. She is a licensed tour guide, published author and actuaL descendant of accused witches. She is a Connecticut Native and Courtney spent 5 years in DC after completing her studies at Catholic University Degree. After earning her degree, she worked for the FBI as an analyst -- having been influenced by her time interning at NCIS. She then spent 2 years in Vermont working for Dept of Homeland Security and honing her investigative skills. Courtney also spent many months in Ireland, a place rich with histories and hauntings alike! She avidly studies histories of Celtic cultures. Courtney is an empathic spirit medium -- able to feel, see and communicate with spirits. She has frequently had experiences involving the paranormal. In Courtney's childhood home in Central Connecticut, in a town called East Hampton numerous paranormal occurrences happened. The events were so extreme that the Warren family came to investigate and exorcise the house during her teenage years there. Due to her haunting past, and ability to see and communicate with spirit, she has always taken an interest in the unknown and has now put her sensitivities, investigative skills, love of history, and writing aspirations to work. Courtney is also a realist amongst all things. That means you will get an excited, thought-provoking and spooky tour while at the same time being inundated with historical facts to corroborate all the haunting occurrences surrounding the Seaport area. Perhaps you'll see a spirit or 2 on your tours with us, remember to bring your cameras!
Courtney's books Haunted Mystic and Revolutionary War Ghosts of Connecticut are available via our online store and via your favorite book retailers.
Courtney is available to provide private tours and perform at speaking engagements (Growing up Haunted, Haunted Mystic, Revolutionary War Ghosts of Connecticut and Seaside Haunts of Salem) per request. Please use the Contact page or call us at 860-754-8923 for further details and inquiries.
Meet Our Team
Tour Guide: David James McDonald was a military child and traveled the world in his youth—he spends most of his free time in nearby states and meeting new people, and spirits, out of habit. He is currently attending MxCC in Middletown for his associates, and is taking one of his favorite courses in the Fall of 2017: History! A love of history and the supernatural brought him to this job, and he believes that it was fate that he met Courtney. He has visited several haunted sights in CT, including Elmcrest in Portland, the Seaside Sanitorium in Mystic, and the Norwich Hospital before it was demolished earlier this year (feel free to ask him about his times there). David James has enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about his new home here in New England. He uses his crystals and intuition to connect with the other side. If you come on a tour with him, you could have the chance to learn about crystal vibrations and protection!
Co-Owner and Security: Marty Reardon, Jr. is both Courtney's husband and the co-owner of Seaside Shadows. As a direct descendant of Bridget Bishop, Marty has always been drawn to Salem's historic past and honoring his ancestors with their true tales. You will often see him at our Seaside Shadows Tours and Events. He is our Director of Security -- making sure that our guests have a safe and enjoyable journey each and every night. Marty also provides technical expertise to all of our paranormal investigations and evidence review. He will be there lantern in hand taking your tickets and helping escort you through your spooktacular journey. After a love for the paranormal and television's Sons of Anarchy Marty has named the security group for Seaside Shadows -- "Reaper Crew." Be sure to say a big hello and thanks next time you see the Reaper Crew at your tour or events!

Tour Guide: Laura Walls is a Connecticut native with English flare, having lived in London for several years and obtained her MA in Museum Studies with Honors from Kingston University. She was a warden at the Tower of London and an ambassador on behalf of Historic Royal Palaces, representing them at private engagements attended by the Royal Family. Additionally, she has worked at various historic homes including the Nathan Hale Homestead and Knole House, one of England’s largest manor homes. She has a background in medieval and 18th century history, as well as theatre (spending almost a decade as an actor at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire!) and writing. As a historian with a sensitivity to spirits, Laura strives above all else to honor and respect those that have come before us.
